Welcome to Year 4, where the children will have plenty of new and enjoyable learning experiences and opportunities linked to our topics and curriculum across the year. Please use the topic tabs on the right hand side of the screen to find out all the interesting activities we will be doing.
The information on our class page outlines key information such as:
- Home learning
- Book bags
- PE information
- Special visitors
- School trips
- Parent/Carer letters
Home Learning:
Children’s home learning will be placed on Tapestry each Friday afternoon. This will consist of:
- 8 spellings
- Reading at least 4 x weekly
- At least 30 minutes using Times Table Rock Stars
- An optional home learning activity that is linked to the topic for this term. This will be sent home at the beginning of each term.
Nationally, year 4 children will take part in a multiplication screening, which will be administered in June 2020. Therefore we will be practicing our tables regularly at school. To enable the children to be prepared for the screening, it would be beneficial for them to also practice at home. They can log onto Times Table Rock Stars, or there are plenty of other resources available online.
I have found the greatest support that parents/carers can do at home is: Reading collaboratively (15 minutes minimum per day), times tables practice and individual spelling booklet practice.
Book Bags:
As the children are maturing, they need to be encouraged to remember their book bag everyday. Inside the book bag should be their reading book, reading record and spelling booklet as these are used daily by both the children and the adults.
PE Information:
The children’s PE lessons will be on Monday morning and Friday morning. As the children are now in Year 4, I am encouraging them to take responsibility for their own PE kits, making sure they are in school at the start of each week.
As the weather is worsening, children need to have: black shorts or plain black jogging bottoms, a white t-shirt, socks and appropriate black trainers (no plimsolls please!)
Parent/Carer Letters:
Please see the Parent/Carer Letter folder for all of Class Da Vinci’s relevant letters and information.
Please take a look at our topic pages, parent/carer letters and photographs!
